Invisalign for Teens

A straighter smile that fits a teenager’s real life, school, sports, photos, and all, without a mouthful of metal.

The teen years are full of photos, first jobs, sports, and big social moments. Invisalign Teen lets your child straighten their teeth through all of it without the self-conscious feeling that often comes with traditional braces. Clear aligners are designed for the way teens in Harrisonburg actually live, and they make day-to-day care a lot simpler too.

Made for a Teen’s Life

Confident in Photos

Clear aligners barely show, so your teen can smile freely in every group photo, game-day shot, and homecoming picture without metal stealing the moment.

No Sports or Instrument Worries

Aligners come out for sports and instruments, so there are no brackets to worry about on the field, in the band room, or during a recital.

Eat Normally

Pizza, popcorn, and snacks at a friend's house are all still on the menu, because aligners come out at mealtime and go back in after.

Built-In Wear Indicators

Invisalign Teen aligners include small blue compliance dots that fade as they are worn, giving you and your teen an easy way to confirm they are keeping up.

A Word for Parents

Invisalign Teen works best when aligners are worn 20 to 22 hours a day, so it is a great fit for a teen who is ready to take some ownership. The compliance indicators and short, friendly check-ins make it easy to stay on track together. At your free consultation, Dr. Kevin Hu uses an iTero scan, a small wand that builds a 3D model of the teeth with no putty impressions, to show your family the projected result and give you an honest read on whether the timing is right. Because Dr. Hu holds a PhD in Orthodontics and doctoral-level training in the science of tooth movement, your teen’s plan is mapped by a dentist who understands exactly how growing teeth respond.

How Invisalign Teen Works

The process is straightforward. After the iTero scan and planning, your teen receives a series of clear, custom aligners. Each set is worn for about a week or two and gently guides the teeth a little closer to their finished position before moving to the next. Your teen wears each set 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush. The built-in wear indicators give you a simple way to confirm they are getting enough wear time. Check-ins at our Medical Avenue office are short and only every six to eight weeks, so they fit neatly around school and activities.

Easier Cleaning, Healthier Habits

One quiet advantage of clear aligners is that brushing and flossing stay simple. With braces, food gets caught around brackets and wires, and keeping teeth clean takes special tools and patience. Because aligners come out, your teen brushes and flosses normally, which makes it easier to protect their teeth during treatment. We show your teen how to rinse and care for the aligners too, so the trays stay clear and fresh. These are good habits that tend to stick well beyond the end of treatment.

Caring for Valley Families

Our practice is a Platinum Invisalign Provider on Medical Avenue near the Sentara RMH medical corridor, and your teen’s treatment is guided by Dr. Kevin Hu, a lead dentist with a PhD in Orthodontics and doctoral-level training in the science of tooth movement. That brings experienced clear-aligner care close to home for families across Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. From the first consultation through the day your teen sees their finished smile, you work with one team that knows your family and keeps you informed at every step. We want this to feel like a positive milestone, not a chore, for both you and your teen.

Common Questions

Will my teen actually wear the aligners?
That is the honest question every parent asks. Invisalign Teen includes small blue compliance dots that fade as the aligners are worn, so you and your teen have an easy way to confirm they are keeping up. Short, friendly check-ins keep everyone on track.
Can my teen play sports and instruments with Invisalign?
Yes. Aligners come out for sports and for playing wind or brass instruments, so there are no brackets to worry about on the field, in the band room, or during a recital. Just have your teen store them in their case and put them back in afterward.
What happens if my teen loses an aligner?
It happens, and it is usually not a big deal. Have your teen move back to the previous set or forward to the next as we direct, then call us for a replacement. Storing aligners in their case rather than a napkin avoids most of these.
Is Invisalign a good choice while teeth are still coming in?
Timing matters, and that is what the consultation is for. Invisalign Teen has features that account for teeth still growing in, but every mouth is different. Dr. Kevin Hu reviews your teen's teeth and gives an honest read on whether now is the right time to start.
